Fialho de Almeida, born in Vila de Frades, in Alentejo, lived the last years of his life in Cuba, where he died and was buried. Talking about Fialho de Almeida is talking about one of the most important writers of the national literary scene. In his work, he himself says, we can distinguish three types of impressionistic prose: the novel and description, political opinion and satirical article. Admired by many, he owns a mood called “acid”, which often contributed to inflame hatreds, resentments and antipathies from those who were not able to understand him.
he acquisition of the property where the writer lived in Cuba, the definition of the design of the future House Museum, the launch of the National Literary Contest, his collection of tales edition and the online availability of his work are just some examples of what has been done by the municipality.
