The Alentejo olive oils are known for their quality, which begins in the process of transformation of the olives. Virgin olive oils are classified when they are obtained solely by mechanical or other physical means under conditions of low temperatures, not to cause changes in the oil.
A major producer of olive oil “Herdade da Manantiz”, is located in the county of Cuba. There you can learn about the process of making olive oil and shop at the store. There is also the company Joaquim Costa Vargas, which sells wine and olive oil.
