Traditional Sweets

In Cuba, the taste is an open world to pure flavors. The existence in Cuba of the Carmo’s Convent and a close proximity to the Convent of “Nossa Senhora da Conceição” (Beja), gives to convent sweets an important role in the region. The recipes made by local bakers follow the ancient method of cooking.
In the region, pastry puffs, with or without squash, chickpea cakes, other fried cakes like “filhózes”, cheese-cakes and the delicious rotten cake, are some of the typical sweets.
