Cooking Herbs

26/11/2010

Cooking herbs can give food a special flavor and they can be mixed a lot. Some examples are: thyme and rosemary with lamb, oregano with cheese and eggs, among many others.
All plants or herbs whose stems, leaves, flowers or seeds are used in cooking to improve or enhance the flavor of food, making it tastier and more digestible, are popularly known as aromatic. Who does not know the famous garlic bread soup, bean soup, the dogfish soup, among many other delicacies, much appreciated, not only in the Alentejo, but also in the whole  country and even by those who visit us occasionally? To spice and flavor traditional food, plants such as parsley, coriander, mint, pennyroyal, oregano and bay leaf are indispensable.
