Alentejo is an area of great diversity and the County of Cuba is no exception. In which concerns to wildlife we can emphasize the hunting species, such as the wild rabbit, the hare, the partridge, the quail and the thrush.
About flora it’s important to mention the natural vegetation, such as cork oak, holm oak, olive and cistus, so typical of the Alentejo plain. The asparagus, the mushroom, the purslane, the pennyroyal, the stream mint are other plant species that exist in Cuba and are so well used in regional cuisine.
In the municipality of Cuba, we suggest a mountain biking tour (to admire the landscape, wildlife, architectural and archaeological heritage) and a refreshing bath in the waters of Mac Abrãao stream. In the afternoon, go for a walk and, if possible, enjoy the wonderful sunset in the Alentejo.
