Vila Alva occupies three small hills, one in the centre with a small square garden from where the houses were built, according to the topography of the land. In the two opposite hills there are the Churches of St. Anthony and St. John, which, as guardians, symbolically dominate and protect the village.
The village of Vila Alva keeps the essence of rustic cluster, as reflected in its long and tortuous streets. In the large village square, most of the houses have a little more urban aspect and only a few show an older one. In this area was built the Parish Council building. Near the garden, below the Church, there’s the old elementary school, an interesting building from the end of the nineteenth century, now occupied by the Cultural and Sports Centre, the Club, as it is called by its users.
