In Alentejo we can find plains and hills. This contrast contributes greatly to vegetation diversity, with such different characteristics, both in colour and leaves. In the county of Cuba the main landscape is the plain, with thick and muddy soils of high quality, which are in the so called “Barros de Beja”.
In what concerns the climate, Cuba is part of the climate of Lower Alentejo, which is considered a Mediterranean climate. The region is characterized by low and poorly distributed annual rainfall, most of which happens during autumn / winter. Summer is a very hot and dry season. The average temperatures in winter are low, between 8 and 12ºC and high in summer, between 21 and 25ºC, but often reaching temperatures above 35 ° C during the day.
